Concentrated solar power is the technology through which Aalborg CSP built much of its thermal engineering depth. We have designed and delivered steam generation systems, in both thermal oil and molten salt configurations, and solar tower receivers for some of the largest CSP plants ever built, across Spain, India, China, UAE, France, Turkey, and Australia.

We have also applied CSP as a heat source for industrial processes and combined heat and power plants, engineering systems that turn variable solar radiation into reliable, dispatchable heat for applications beyond grid-scale power generation.

The engineering challenge is the same in both contexts: extracting the most from a variable heat source, converting it efficiently into steam or stored energy, and integrating it into a plant that performs reliably over decades.

Alongside engineering and consultancy, we maintain an active CSP R&D programme: through projects including MOSAIC, PHOTON, POLYPHEM, SUNFLOWER, and ASTERIx-CAESar, we are advancing next-generation receiver designs, high-temperature materials, and the integration of CSP with compressed air storage and advanced power cycles.

CSP remains a live and growing market in high-solar regions, and the engineering expertise it requires transfers directly to the broader decarbonization applications we work across today.
